Hi ya! Welcome to our new little corner of the blogosphere, You say Tomato, I say Clamato. We are two good friends who live in Chicago and love Bloody Marys.

Lindsay and I met as undergrads at the University of Michigan in 1997.  Since graduation, I have lived in Chicago and she’s been in NYC.  We’ve been wanting to collaborate on something and upon Lindsay’s (incredibly awesome) move to Chicago this past month, we decided to set out on this little alcoholic adventure together.

There aren’t many Bloody Mary resources on the web.  Searching, I couldn’t find many good recommendations for places to try in Chicago or any consensus on good recipes.  We’ll try and highlight the stuff that is out there, while adding our own take on the drink.

The name of the blog is a play on the old phrase, “you say tomato, I say tomahto.” It is is not intended to indicate that one of us prefers Bloody Marys made with “tomato” and one of us with “Clamato,” because, frankly, we both like them with the clammy juice cocktail (and, technically, they are called Caesars; a drink typically reserved for Canadian friends to the North).  But more on Clamato later…
